"The principles of true art is not to portray, but to evoke."

Jerzy Kosiniski

Following on from my Feeling Artsy? x Part 1 it is now time to showcase my next selection of 5 artists. Once again it's been so hard to choose which incredibly talented artists to feature so I feel there will be many more Feeling Artsy? x posts to come. So for now please enjoy and discover the eclectic and amazing artists as showcased below.

#elisavalenti #kaethebealer #leilafanner #michaelchamberlain #sarishryack

Elisa Valenti

Self-taught New York based artist, Elisa Valenti, is a breath of fresh air and I'm so glad I discovered her celebratory and freeing art. Elisa's contemporary figurative works look to celebrate the beauty, lushness and empowerment of the real female body. Elisa states her art is a reflection of her own body image and mental health struggles reiterating her ethos 'I am good enough!'.

Kaethe Bealer

US artist, Kaethe Bealer, resides on a boat in San Francisco Bay and her art is a response to what surrounds her. Kaethe's mantra of her art is to 'just keep painting' and I'm glad she does as I find her works joyous celebrations of the everyday such as the marina, seascapes, interiors, still life and my favourite, pet portraits, reminding us that it is the simple things in life that are truly important and truly make us happy.

Leila Fanner

South African visual artist, Leila Fanner, works are truly beautiful on every level. Residing in the Western Cape, her exquisitely stunning works look to reflect the soul's journey within the material world whilst referencing opposing elements of local flora and fauna, tribal jewellery, fabric pattern and elements of folklore. Creative, intuitive and unapologetically feminine, Leila's works seem to sparkle on an out of world, spiritual and celestial level.

Michael Chamberlain

Californian oil painter, Michael Chamberlain, looks to find beauty in the common place in his works which are inspired by Californian Impressionists and the landscapes of the great artist, Edward Hopper. Michael looks to elevate the simple, everyday objects and scenes that surround him in his works, expertly instilling and elevating beauty in the commonplace.

Sari Shryack

Austin, Texas based acrylic painter, Sari Shryack's ( Sari not Sorry) artistic ethos began as a mission to create one painting everyday, enabling the world around her to come to life and to make art part of her identity. Delightfully colourful, Sari's joyful works focus on colour and light and celebrate the vibrancy and beauty within her neighboring community and everyday life.

“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.” Robert Henri

Happy shoes for happy people ...

For years I have been falling in love with Swedish Hasbeens' beautiful wooden shoes. Hand made in Stockholm in the old traditional way and using genuine natural materials Hasbeen shoes age in a beautiful way. The designs are based on the original styles from the 1970's but now look to add elements of fun and quirkiness to their everchanging new styles. These are happy shoes made by happy people in small happy traditional factories. So treat yourself to a bit of sunshine in your life and splash out on a pair as they will bring joy for a lifetime. Perfect styled down with denim or paired with a dress summer style these will be an invaluable addition to you wardrobe. Only thing now is to get happy and choose a pair from the many colours, styles and various heel heights available be it bright metallic pink from the new metallics collection, neon green or the more traditional nature tan colour.

“In each of us is a hidden child. It’s nice when the child wakes up because the world of imagination is a tremendous place to play.”

Stjepan Varesevac Cobets, Magic Clogs

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

Thomas Merton

Since discovering Pinterest many many years ago I've been lucky to come across a wonderful selection of artists, digital artists and illustrators along the way. Pinterest is a great way to discover new talent and I wanted to showcase some of these that I've been obsessing with over the past years. I've included below a small selection of these artists in the first of my Feeling Artsy? blog posts and wanted to showcase some of my favourite pieces from this first talented group. Part 2 to follow shortly ...

Alex Hanna

London based lecturer and predominately still life painter, Alex's idea's are based around disposable household items, selected for their reduced colour.

Erika Lee Sears

Based in the US in Portland, Oregon, Erika is a self taught oil painter whose still life works give the viewer an insight into the ordinary and extraordinary moments into her everyday life as also showcased in Erika's blog, A Tiny Rocket.

Jeremy Miranda

Residing in the US, in Dover, New Hampshire and painting in acrylics, Jeremy's works seemingly explore the slightly unsettling and haunting juxtapositions of the space between two worlds, the interior and exterior, the past and the present and reality and memory.

Jonas Wood

LA based digital collage artist and painter, Jonas Wood's graphic works are boldly coloured and act as a visual diary, personal to the artist. Jonas combines elements of the world around him into his paintings, drawings and prints.

Tishk Barzanji

Residing in London, visual artist, Tishk Barzanji, combines elements of modernism and the surreal to his illustrative, colourful and striking works. Reminiscent of a modern day De Chirico, his art explores the relationship between man and construction and the human interactions within these spaces.

"Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist.”

René Magritte
